In the five-week series of workshops for wee ones, kids explore their emotions using a mindful, art-based practice to pay attention to their senses. Each week, kids investigate a different sensory mode and how it relates to emotion regulation.

 Workshops at a glance

No artistic experience is necessary, just a desire to engage in the creative process.

Workshop 1: See It

To begin, kids learn emotions are neither good nor bad and investigate the physical attributes of different emotions.

Ages: 5-6 | Workshop Length: 1 Hr

 

Workshop 2: Feel It

Using art-based activities, kids will develop skills to label strong emotions by considering the color, shape, form, weight, or texture of specific emotions.  

Ages: 5-6 | Workshop Length: 1 Hr

Workshop 3: Hear It

Through creative exploration, kids explore the intensity of emotions and gain an understanding on how strong emotions can feel amplified.

Workshop 4: Breathe It

Kids will be encouraged to creatively explore the flavor, the texture, and the juiciness of a feeling.

Ages: 5-6 | Workshop Length: 1 Hr

Workshop 5:
Savor It

Kids will use art as a means to explore the topic of 'hangry' and how food plays a role in one's mood.

Ages: 5-6 | Workshop Length: 1 Hr

The workshops are:

  • To create a well-balanced mind, each lesson includes hands-on activities where the participant learns skills to regulate their emotions

  • A broad range of art materials will be available to promote creative exploration designed to foster a growth mindset.
